I have another TIFF-related activity I wanted to talk about. On Friday I headed down to King West, right into the heart of TIFF territory to the Elevate Lounge hosted by ChickAdvisor and Harbinger Communications. The lounge was dedicated to duplicating the experience of getting ready for red carpet events. I am not really sure how I scored an invite to this event because the lounge promised a couple hours of beauty tips and pampering, and beauty blogger I am not. I am certainly not beauty savvy, and typically the events I am invited to are food-related. No complaints here though, I had a really great time and I am so glad I went!
The lounge consisted of four separate stations:
- A red carpet hairstyle with Nexxus
- A skincare and makeover tutorial with Simple Skincare
- Foot massage/mini pedicure with Dr Scholl’s
- Treats from Magnum, VOSS, Lipton, Gay Lea, and Excel
I started in the skincare area, where the makeup artist cleansed my skin with the Simple line (which I have actually used before, and like).
Then she moisturized me up and slapped some foundation and lipstick on me. My skin was feeling pretty fresh, I have to say. Next I headed over to the Nexxus area to get my hurrrr did.
I am not one of those people who can have their hair curled and leave it curly for the next several days. My curls will be gone by the next day and if I don’t wash my hair daily it is a grease fest. But daaaamn my hair looked good for a few hours. It is a shame I had no plans that night.
I loved my hairstylist Natalie. By the end I felt like we were BFFs. I think we’re gonna go out for drinks! She did an amazing job, and she also does makeup! And from her Instagram, I’d say she does makeup right.
After hair and makeup there was much glamour happening.
That lipstick though. What a game changer. It totally brought me up a notch (or several). I didn’t think bright lipstick was for me until this but I think I need it in my life. The brand is Tarte Lipsurgence lip gloss and the colour is Flush (berry rose). Apparently you can find it at Sephora, and you better believe I will be hunting it down.
The guy running the photobooth convinced me to get in there, and I felt really awkward because I was by myself and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with my hands in pictures by myself… But I figured I never look this good so I should take advantage.
Really, really big fan of my hair and makeup.
And then it was pedicure time.
And pedicure time was a good time. My lady used a Dr. Scholl’s Dreamwalk Pedi Foot Smoother on me and ohh man, were my feet ever smooth afterwards.
I got that in a little swag bag when I was leaving (as well as some Simple, Dove and Nexxus products) and it was the item I was most excited about. I was ready to go out and buy it my feet felt so nice. I was ecstatic to have it.
After all the pampering I hung out in the snack lounge.
Obviously. I spent a lot of time in there while I waited for my toes to dry. I ate all the snacks while I tried to catch a glimpse of Jake Gyllenhaal on the red carpet below.
No luck, but the ladies in the lounge spotted him the day before!
This event totally made me want to become a beauty blogger. I was so thankful to be invited. The only crappy thing was I had no plans afterwards so no one saw me looking great. I was literally all dressed up with no place to go. Oh well. I went home and hung out with Evan and Winnie on the couch, which was still a good time. A different time, but more my speed.
