After work yesterday evening, Andmo and I headed over to my beautiful little Nana’s for her nursing home’s family appreciation BBQ!
My Nana is so sassy with her pink nails! 😀 (and young looking! I still can’t believe she is 97! Her skin is fabulous!)
We went to this BBQ last year too and it is always a good time. They serve surprisingly good food!
They had the traditional BBQ fare of hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages, and I scored a cheeseburger topped with ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, and corn relish (LOVE that stuff). A scoop of potato salad also made its way onto my plate, which was quite yummy as well.
Though the food was good, I wouldn’t say it was the highlight of the barbecue. I’m pretty sure this guy trumped everything else…
Yes, oh yes there was an Elvis impersonator. He was studding around last year too (the above pic is from last year), and I am not an Elvis impersonator expert or anything, but he is pretty awesome and extremely entertaining. The old ladies DIE for him (not literally), it is the highlight of their entire year. He goes around singing and kissing the hands of all the ladies and posing for photos with them, and he is really great at engaging with them.
He came over to my Nana, half sat on her lap, and said “What’s your room number, baby?”
So funny. I think she was his favourite :). He came over to our area a lot.
Luckily for you guys, you don’t have to use your imagination…I took a video of the action!
Notice Elvis gallantly shaking Alejandrew’s hand at the end.
I wonder if he remembers Andreusse from last year, when he was all over him.
While Elvis was doin’ his thang, cake was brought out for dessert! I was able to tear my attention away from the King for a moment and snag a piece.
Buttercream icing is where it’s at! Definitely my fave kind. This cake was great.
My Nana turned the cake down because she says they serve it twice a day there, and she eats so much of it she is having trouble buttoning up her blouses. This made me laugh 🙂 Ahh, she reminds me of me.
I loved hanging out with my little Nanny-pop and Elvis. It was a funny night with some decent eating thrown in!
Have a great FRIDAY!!!
